At Architangent, we believe that great design extends beyond aesthetics—it creates immersive experiences that enhance functionality, brand identity, and customer engagement. One such transformation is Vestal Restaurant, a modern dining destination in downtown Lafayette, LA. This project was an exercise in seamlessly blending history with contemporary elegance, preserving the building’s charm while creating a bold, functional space that elevates the dining experience.

Vestal Restaurant is more than just a place to dine—it’s an experience. Housed in a historic building that once operated as Antler’s nightclub, the renovation had to honor its past while aligning with Vestal’s unique live-fire grill and raw bar concept. The space needed to achieve three primary goals:

✔ Functional & High-Capacity – Maximizing diner seating while maintaining comfort.
✔ Visually Striking – A design that reflects warmth, hospitality, and brand identity.
✔ Seamlessly Integrated – A cohesive architectural and interior approach that enhances the culinary experience.

Our challenge was to preserve the essence of the original structure while introducing modern, purposeful design elements that align with the restaurant’s vision.

In collaboration with Amanda Medsger and Keith Davis Young, our team of architects, interior designers, and graphic designers crafted a space that respects history while embracing innovation. Key design features included:

Efficient Space Planning

          - A dense dining room layout optimizes seating capacity without sacrificing comfort.

          - Guests can choose from a cocktail bar, open hearth seating, cozy booths, or freestanding tables, offering a dynamic                and customizable dining experience.

Architectural Innovation

          - A curved ceiling and expansive skylights create an airy, open feel, balancing the restaurant’s high-energy atmosphere              with moments of intimacy.

          - Thoughtful lighting design enhances the ambiance, setting the tone for a warm, welcoming dining environment.

Brand-Driven Design

          - Every design element—from the lighting to material selection—echoes the essence of Vesta, the Roman goddess of                  the hearth, reinforcing warmth and hospitality.

          - Textures, color palettes, and spatial layouts were meticulously chosen to reflect the vibrancy of an open-fire dining                    experience.

Since opening in 2021, Vestal Restaurant has quickly become a must-visit culinary destination, attracting both locals and tourists. More than just a restaurant, the space now stands as a landmark in the revitalization of downtown Lafayette’s historic district.
